High Wycombe Town Centre Christmas Parade 2011

CloudTEN Events kicked off the festive season in style this year with the High Wycombe Town Centre Christmas Parade

It was glitter and tinsel galore on Thursday 17th November 2011 as CloudTEN Events co-ordinated the Christmas Parade through High Wycombe Town Centre, part of the Christmas light switch on event organised by High Wycombe Town Partnership.

This year's parade was Cinderella themed in keeping with the Swan Theatre's Christmas pantomime, with the stars of the show Gemma James and Matt Slack taking part in the parade, riding in a fabulous Cinderella style horse and carriage; the stars were followed by two fantastic stilt walkers dressed as Cinderella and Prince Charming.  Actress Lesley Joseph, starring as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, also attended the event to switch on the Christmas lights at the end of the parade.

Santa and his reindeer also made an appearance, leading the parade, thanks to The Reindeer Centre and much to the delight of the many children who turned out with their parents to enjoy the festivities.  Carol singers from High Wycombe Choral Society and Wye Valley School helped to add to the festive atmosphere with a range of carols, both traditional and modern.  Bucks New University cheerleaders and Tuffney Performing Arts Academy entertained crowds with their choreographed routines, followed by The Pheonix Children's Charity and their minature Shetland ponies, Wycombe Wanderers mascot Bodger and Wasps mascot Sting and Swan Theatre staff giving away helium filled balloons.

Hamilton Primary School, Disraeli Primary School and Hannah Ball Primary School also took part in the parade, with many of the children getting into the spirit of the parade by dressing up as characters from Cinderella.  The children carried led laterns, in the shape of a clock, shoe or mouse which they had made themselves in workshops organised by CloudTEN Events prior to the parade.

The event also featured entertainment throughout the afternoon and evening on stage at the end of the parade, fair ground rides and market stalls in the Frogmoor area of the town where the light switch on took place.  The evening was a huge success all round, with everyone having an enjoyable evening and some great feedback from the parade participants.

Merry Christmas!
